Funding will be used to renovate hangar for aerospace companies

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 15, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Chellie Pingree said this afternoon that the former Brunswick Naval Air Station will be getting $1.1 million to help renovate and redevelop a hangar for use by aerospace companies.

“Brunswick is a great example of how a former military base can be redeveloped to create jobs and economic opportunity for a community. This is truly an investment that will pay off many times over,” Pingree said. “It’s exciting to see this hangar renovated so it can support the growing aerospace industry in Maine. It helps create and preserve the good paying jobs that we need in our state.”

The approximately 50,000-square-foot building was previously used as a maintenance hangar at the naval base. Work under the grant includes installing new heating systems and ADA accessibility improvements.

The Brunswick Executive Airport will receive the grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
