Westbrook company gets $875,000 solar energy grant to improve smart grid technology

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree said today that Pika Energy in Westbrook is getting a $875,000 Department of Energy Grant to improve technology for managing electric grids to take advantage of solar power and other sources of clean energy

King Reintroduces Legislation to Support Affordable, Renewable, Home-Grown

Following an event last month at Mt. Abram Ski Resort in Greenwood to highlight the economic and environmental benefits of biomass, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today fulfilled his pledge to reintroduce the Biomass Thermal Utilization Act of 2015, legislation that incentivizes the development of biomass as an affordable, clean, and home-grown source of energy.

King, Collins Announce Legislation to Support Cheap, Clean, Home-Grown Energy

WASHINGTON, D.C. - May 23, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- U.S. Senator Angus S. King, Jr. (I-ME) today introduced legislation, cosponsored by Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), that would recognize and promote the economic and environmental benefits of biomass thermal energy. TheBiomass Thermal Utilization Act of 2013, or BTU Act, would amend the federal tax code to incentivize biomass energy, as it already does for several other forms of renewable energy. Currently, a host of renewable energy technologies qualify for investment tax credits for capital costs incurred in residential and commercial installations. This legislation seeks to achieve parity between those renewable systems and thermal biomass systems

Governors Urge Congress to Fully Fund Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

AUGUSTA, DC - September 13, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Governor Paul LePage joined with 13 other Governors across the country to submit a letter requesting Congress fully fund the federal government’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) this winter.
