Maine’s Second District Congressman, Bruce Poliquin, announced the Department of Veterans Affairs will award Preble Street $1,683,966, Washington Hancock Community Agency $290,000 and Veterans Inc. (which serves Veterans in Maine and throughout New England) $2,000,000 as part of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.

Collins, King Announce More than $2.2 Million in Federal Grants to Support Drug-Free Communities
U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) has awarded a total of $2.25 million in grant funding to several Maine health coalitions and local governments to prevent youth substance abuse and foster drug-free communities in Maine. Of that funding, $1,125,000 will be allocated for nine new grant awards while the remaining funding will be allocated to nine projects in the state that have previously received funding from ONDCP.

This morning, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) participated in a Senate Climate Action Task Force roundtable discussion where he again expressed support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan and emphasized the need to act on climate change. In his remarks, Senator King, a member of the Task Force, called the Clean Power Plan “an important step” in the fight against climate change and applauded its flexible approach to reducing carbon emissions by setting the overall goals but delegating authority to the states to decide how to achieve those goals
