U.S. Senators Susan Collins, Chairman of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, and Angus King announced today that the Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded two Community Development Block Grants totaling $1,853,497 to Cumberland County and the City of Biddeford.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association (MEREDA) is pleased to announce its 2015-16 slated officers, which include Paul Peck of Drummond & Drummond, Brian Curley of PDT Architects, and Bruce Jones of Creative Office Pavilion, all serving as Vice Presidents, and Bill Shanahan of Northern New England Housing Investment Fund as Treasurer. Michael O’Reilly of Bangor Savings Bank will continue as President, in the second year of his two-year term, and Shelly R. Clark has been promoted from Assistant Secretary to Secretary of the Board.

EPA Recognizes Bowdoin College for Energy Efficiency Efforts
Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine is being recognized by EPA with a 2015 Energy Star Combined Heat and Power (CHP) award. CHP technology produces electricity and useful heat simultaneously from a single energy source, such as natural gas, oil, or biomass. MAINE SINGLE-FAMILY HOME PRICES UP 8.86 PERCENT; SALES UP 2.53 PERCENT IN MAY
According to Maine Listings, 1,335 single-family existing homes changed hands last month, leading to a 2.53 percent increase in sales overall. The median sales price (MSP) for those homes reached $185,000—a rise of 8.86 percent. The MSP indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less.
