Public Lands Task Force to Hold Listening Sessions

-

Augusta, ME – The Governor’s Task Force Regarding the Management of Public lands and Publicly-Held Easements will hold two listening sessions next week. Task force members and state land management officials will gather in Bangor and South Portland to hear public comment on recreational access on public lands. All who have an interest in outdoor recreation are welcome.

“We are seeking the public’s input regarding recreation on the nearly 1.6 million acres of lands we manage for the people of Maine,” said Will Harris, Director of the Bureau of Parks & Lands. We would like to hear ideas for activities on these lands, as well as ways we can address conflicts among user groups.”

Information regarding the work of the Task Force can be found at http://www.maine.gov/doc/parks/taskforce/ along with questions that the Task Force would like to ask of the public and address during the listening sessions.

Listening sessions will be held at The Bangor Motor Inn on November 27 and at the South Portland Community Center on November 28. Those unable to attend who wish to comment may do so in writing until Friday December 7. Written comments and questions should be sent to:
